Entertain at home with Lobster - easier than ever with Clearwater's Whole, Ready -To- Cook Frozen Lobster!

BEDFORD, NS, Dec. 20 /CNW/ - The renewed interest in entertaining at home has sparked Clearwater Seafoods Limited Partnership to introduce a new product for seafood lovers. Clearwater is now offering the same taste and qualities of a live lobster in a new convenient format- Clearwater Whole Frozen Lobster.

"Some of our consumers have been telling us they aren't interested in the preparation required to handle and prepare live lobster at home", says Dan Evans, Clearwater's Lobster Product Manager, "so we developed one of the most humane handling and processing techniques in the industry that results in the same unique and delicious taste experience, while at the same time, offering more convenience - you can shop in advance, store it in your freezer and have it anytime".

"The resulting taste and texture is every bit as fresh as if you cooked them straight from the tank. In fact, blind taste-testing showed consumers either couldn't tell the difference from 'live' cooked lobster or, in some cases, rated it marginally ahead of live", adds Evans.

Clearwater's new Whole, Ready to Cook Frozen Lobster is selected from the company's premium "Hard-shell" brand of live lobsters. Clearwater lobsters are from the pristine waters of Canada's North Atlantic - famous for being 'fully-mated' with an unbeatable 'fresh-from-the sea' flavor! Hard-shell lobsters are harvested at times when energy levels are highest; meat content is at its maximum- yielding up to 50% more meat than soft shell lobsters. Hard shell lobsters are the standard that many high-end restaurants serve.

Clearwater's staff of biologists select the strongest, healthiest lobsters that are carefully harvested and frozen at their peak condition ensuring lobsters reach customers in perfect condition - well sealed, vacuum packaged and protected.

The live lobsters are processed by the precise science of hydrostatic pressure resulting in a quick processing time while retaining product characteristics like freshness, taste, texture, and maximum nutrients. The product is 100% natural; no additives or preservatives are added to Clearwater Whole, Ready- to- Cook Frozen Lobster.

Clearwater's packaging has easy step photographs & instructions on 'How to Eat a Lobster' from how to crack the shell open to how to ensure customers get every last 'mouth-watering' morsel!

Consumers can find the product conveniently packaged in the Seafood section of Whole Foods Market stores. Clearwater plans to expand the offering to other selected grocery stores as well as through the company's online shopping site www.clearwater.ca throughout 2007. Once thawed, the product is easy to cook!

What about the stigma of frozen?

"We find that's a shrinking issue," says Evans, "Consumers are becoming more educated and savvy - learning what many chefs have known for some time- that new freezing technologies today mean that frozen product can perform better than fresh product that has, in many cases, spent days in transit being shipped across the country."

Clearwater is recognized for its consistent quality, wide diversity and reliable delivery of premium seafood, including scallops, lobster, clams, cold-water shrimp, crab and ground fish.

Since it's founding in 1976 Clearwater has invested in science, people, technology, resource ownership and resource management to preserve and grow its seafood resource. This commitment has allowed it to remain a leader in the North American seafood industry for almost three decades.
